Start and Enrollment Date on Transcript

Having a start date on a transcript that reflects the first day of actual classes is needed. The current "Date Entered" reflects the enrollment date.

  1. Sending transcripts for college applications: If a student "start date" appears as February 1,2023 it can be misleading and look as though a student was a late transfer, missing grades, or repeated a grade.

  2. Education Verification: Now more than ever, companies are verifying that a student graduated high school and require a start and graduation date - not an enrollment date.

Students have been know to enroll, change their minds and not attend - this data is important for retention purposes.

For right now, the only option I have is to remove the Date Entered field from the transcripts that counselors send for college admissions and create another transcript that includes the Date Entered field, printed and kept on file for life (as required by law).

If the functionality exists for the Graduation Date field to populate different dates based upon status, could the same be done for Date Entered?

Graduation date: <student's graduation date>

Expected graduation: <student's class>

Withdraw date: <student's withdraw date>

This is also an issue for our school as well as we have a middle and high school and if the student starts in 6th grade, that start date is printed on their high school transcript. we use separate transcripts for both schools so the start date looks incorrect on the high school transcript. If the schools are separate in the system, why cant these dates coincide with the corresponding school? Seems like it would be a simple fix with programming as it is similar to school year dates or terms or grading date of a particular school. These dates can all be different between schools.
