At the high school we record attendance by period, which is the best fit for most of our attendance policies. We carefully monitor attendance reporting by the teachers in the first period of the day, but not so much afterwards. Teachers are not consistent in taking attendance, which can result in a student who is marked absent from all periods except one, even though they were gone the entire day. It would be helpful if an absence in the first class of the day automatically created absences for all subsequent periods. The Attendance Manager would make any updates for students who come to school later in the day.
