As other ideas have suggested, any mistakes in re-enrolling students year over year cause the generation of a new Family ID and require creation of a new account. Additionally, if a family's children go to different SmartTuition schools (e.g. preschool, K-8, and High School) the family now has to manage multiple SmartTuition Portal accounts for current, active enrollments. This is irritating and cumbersome at the very least and, for families not enrolled in auto-pay, can cause confusion and payment errors if a family isn't meticulously keeping track of accounts that should only need to be accessed once a month at most.
Making a primary portal account that families can access, and under which Family IDs across multiple schools can be aggregated, will make managing and tracking tuition and payments much easier, and will improve the auditability of Smart Tuition ledgers.
It's not something that can't be done in a relatively simple manner: Banks have had the functionality (where one login gives access to checking, savings, CDs, insurance, loans, etc) for nearly twenty years; even local recreation departments allow families to track multiple children across multiple activities, and in many cases collaborate across municipalities to enable centralized family account management.
I know this ask has been a long time coming, but it is now in limited release and will be available for all soon!
For our schools who utilize single sign on via a resource tile and those who have converted to Blackbaud ID your payers can navigate to the top of the payer page on parent.blackbaud.school and select "Switch School Account" from there. They will search for the other account(s) they'd like connected, verify their access to these accounts and link them together! From that point forward they will be able to log in with a single BBID and bounce back and forth between the linked accounts. If your school has not yet been converted to BBID this functionality will not appear, but we are releasing BBID in waves and you should see updates there very soon.
This update would be extremely helpful.
This option is extremely helpful for divorce families as well as payers requesting to draw down from multiple accounts.
