We use relationship types that are not available in the hard-coded table. Example: All of our international students are required to have a Stateside Guardian. This is not the same as a Guardian. I'm going to need to use one of the delivered Relationship Types to code these people and it is going to be very confusing because none of the types remotely describe this relationship.
I think https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io/ideas/K12CO-I-2675 should be merged with this, as general editing capability would ideally include that specific feature.
This idea is 8 years old (!!!) - I hope it will be considered eventually. "Family Friend" or "Friend of Parent" frequently comes up as a needed relationship for emergency contacts. The "Friend" type isn't really specific enough as a relationship to students.
Customizable table values anywhere in the system is almost always better for users than being restricted to hard-coded options.
I would like a mentor/mentee relationship. We have refugee students with community members who mentor them in many ways and can have access to grades and are responsible signers for parents who don't speak English. There is no good relationship type option as they aren't guardians.
There is no option for Cousin, which is a common relationship type. Further, there is the option for "Aunt Uncle" - please add cousin as an option if you do not make this customizable.
I agree with all these comments. We have multiple international students living with one family, and adding the other wards in what is truly not a relationship in order to share an address is not acceptable.
After the Oct. 2016 release the system does not allow addresses to be shared unless relationships are setup between all the profiles sharing the address. We have stateside guardians as well and these stateside guardians have several Wards that share the stateside guardians address but don't have a relationship to each other. In some cases they are living with a Host family. The Step-Sibling type seems the closest hard coded option but it isn't accurate and we would like to capture a Ward to Ward type of situation much like the sibling to sibling relationship. Here is a link to the address/relationship explanation article, https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/106222.
Sometimes the sister or brother is the guardian and I would like to note that. There are all kinds of blended families now. Being able to customize this list would be beneficial.
