Allow I/M/L/X typed into Gradebook for Incomplete/Missing/Late/Exempt Merged

Teachers regularly used the letter codes in FAWeb that quickly allowed them to mark items as late, incomplete, missing, etc. An "M" in a cell automatically calculated as a zero in our system, and was seen as a temporary grade until the assignment was completed. In OnCampus, my teachers can manually type the zero, then click a special button to mark as missing, then access that special window again to mark the assignment not missing anymore when they put in the grade.

I understand that we cannot do this because we use numerical grades in our system, not a dropdown menu of letter grades for all assignments. This seems like a step backward to us.

After our first 6 weeks with the onCampus grade book, faculty are screaming for this. "I never thought I would miss FAWeb, but this grade book exempt thing is clunky." Let's make life easier on the teachers.

Agreed, higher on the list than seating charts!

Having the letter in FAWeb always made it stand out. For example, I had/have classes that alternate with gym every other cycle but are scheduled in one class gradebook. The X for Exempt was a great visual cue for me and parents to show that the student was Exempt from the assignments for another section. The above might also apply to schools with "Specials" like Art, Music, etc.  We are just starting with this system.

My vote is "yes". In fact, if we only get one addition, I would put this higher on the list than seating charts.

Agreed. This would be so helpful and would save the step of having to add missing or exempt as an option.

This helps to communicate to parents and students the specifics of a grade.  It would be extremely helpful to have this feature!
