We need the ability to make a room inactive. Once you've used a room - you can't delete it and it continues to show up as a location for events on the calendar. Having the ability to make them inactive would clean up the buildings and rooms.
Agreed with all other comments. Renovations happen and when they do, room numbers change. Making rooms inactive is essential. (This may need to be moved to Core, because buildings are a Core feature even though they also can be edited in the SIS/LMS side.)
We have buildings and rooms that no longer exist but would like to make them inactive without removing the historical information. Just like courses can be filtered by active/inactive rooms should have the same feature and ability in order to have a clean workable list.
This is insane. Support says we have to manually go through every course and disconnect/untie a building/room from each course, advisory, etc.. that no longer exists before we can make it inactive. For us that would be 12 years of academic, advisor, and event use.
Per Support:
"First, we need to determine where are the buildings/rooms being used and for that we would construct and advanced list that would let us know this information:
Once this list is constructed you can go and remove the rooms that are no longer used, swapping them for the actual room where those classes and groups meet, when this task is over and the building and its subsequent rooms are not tied to any part of the system then we can proceed to the removal of the building:"
The extra rooms also show up when working on scheduling for the new year. For instance, in View Master Calendar and Set Section Info. For schools who have re-organized their campus building/room naming conventions, a lot of extra, inactive rooms show up unnecessarily.
