With next Tuesday's release, we will be implementing an indicator in Gradebooks to show which assignments are being dropped from calculations. We'll have screenshots in our What's New communication, so be on the lookout there for more information!
How the Gradebook calculates a student's grade should be completely transparent to both the teacher and the student. Everyone benefits from transparency. Simply including a "D" next to the dropped assignment/assessment when looking at a student's gradebook would be super useful.
Along those lines, the "factor" of an assignment or assessment should also be noted in both the teacher's assignment tab as well as the assignment or assessment detail as well as in the gradebook. Again, grading calculations should be transparent, please.
Please add this feature! It would be very helpful for the teacher, students, and professor to see that a grade is dropped, whether there's a D indicator or it turns red or anything else.
We would also like for the dropped grade(s) to be marked red (or any other color) as in FAweb. Our teachers are very used to this FAweb feature; we have been using it for 10 years.
We would like for the dropped grade(s) to turn red as it did in FAWeb. Then it would be nice if on the student side ti also showed as red with a description of "Droppped".
Teachers are asking that a dropped grade indicator be included in Grade Book. Some teachers grading schemes include dropping a certain number of quiz grades. It is not apparent when a grade gets entered and the overall score doesn't change that the reason is a "dropped" score. Would like to see it included above the bar graph on an individual student overview of grades modal window, perhaps in the same line as

Thank you!
This would also answer a lot of students' questions about what was dropped, and give them more confidence in the final computed grade.

Thank you for posting this idea. It was indeed very helpful in faweb, but now with the new icons, "D" for dropped is very important.
