We posted an emergency message today that school was 2 hours late and then had to revise the status to CLOSED given the weather conditions. However, when viewing the site, people were still seeing the original message. I know there are ways to code sites so that information automatically refreshes (such as ESPN live sports scores). Emergency messages need to be real time to avoid having outdated announcements appear.
