Official Notes to Candidate Parents Merged

Any parent who has an address with the "mailing address" indicator shared with the candidate should receive the Official Note with their own respective salutation inserted. Currently, all parents receive the Official Note. But the salutation that is inserted is that of the candidate's address with the "Preferred" indicator. This is not ideal. I want each parent to have their own respective salutation in the Official Note.

    Hi all,

I wanted to jump in to share what we found when researching this request. Our official notes are very much candidate-centric. All of the merge fields are candidate specific, and parents are essentially just receiving a copy of the message for a candidate. The system doesn't take official note recipients into account when creating the message, which means we have nothing to pull from when trying to give you specific merge fields for parents. We tried several options to see if we could make it work but found that we could not. I'm going to leave this idea open in case we have different options in the future, but I wanted to be transparent and say that we're unfortunately not able to accommodate this request with the system as it is today.

    Kind regards,

We are having the same issues. I was told that when sending an official note it will use the salutation that is on the address marked as the mailing address. So unfortunalty there is no way to have the salutation be specific for each parent.

My questions now is, if both House 1 and House 2 addresses have the mailing address chosen (I tested it, and looks like they can both be the mailing address), will each of their salutations show up for the respective parent? Or if neither is chosen as the mailing address, will each of their salutations show up for the respective parent?

The official note salutation needs to pull for both the home and home 2 salutation. Currently it only pulls the home salutation, but goes to both families, so both families are receiving an official note addresses to the same person. Divorced families are not happy about receiving something addressed to their ex and new spouse

This is key! We effectively wind up using Official Notes as a bulk emailing tool because of some limitations in Pushpages. It's embarassing to risk sending an email to an individual (parent of candidate) with a salutation that contains the name of their ex-spouse living at the candidate's primary address...
