I have seen some other ideas similar to this but none of them cover all changes and we would end up with a million audit buttons all over the place.
Advanced anything scares people away. If there was a way to have a small button or option somewhere in core or advanced lists, I would like to see a system log for all user changes in the system. That way we can see who changed things like a student's grade, or who changed the group page access setting in core, etc. This would be a list that could be downloaded as a CSV with all changes made to the system.
Fields would include-
Action: What change was made
Student info edited: If any
Where: Academics, Core, Enrollment Management, etc
Date and time: when
User: who
An example of a line in this CSV would be:
Student grade updated(Spanish II), Bob Jimenez, Academics, 10:12:33AM 08/30/19, jsmith
Almost any other service out there from Google Apps, Blackboard, Microsoft 365 has something like this. I am surprised blackbaud does not. I see this as a big security flaw.
This request is necessary. I am surprised that we need to make this request.
We need any change made to the system to be logged by the person making the change along with the date and time.
Why? We need logs for system changes to ensure that we can track changes and make adjustments to rights. Example - When settings get changes and leadership needs to know who made the changes. Currently there is no log.
Also, a more transparent and clear way of understanding all the different roles is needed but I can request that separately.
