In the gradebook when an assignemnt is marked Exempt, Incomplete, Missing, or Late it would be nice if the first initial of that designation could appear in the grdebook cell for that assignment. For example if a teacher marked an assignment as "Late" then an "L" would appear in the gradebook cell for that assignment. If not a letter then could the cell change color to reflect a designation other than an attendance issue. Merged

This idea is useful because a teacher does not know what the red triangle means in the cell and has to look it up.  It would be better for them to be able to see at a glance what is designated as Missing or Late.

It would be EVEN better if the space could be populated when the student is exempt.  This would eliminate the need to hover over every red triangle on every empty cell in a gradebook to determine why it was not graded.    If a student is exempt, we are not going back to enter a grade, so why not put an E or X in that spot, and we will know at a glance what the situation is?
