Right now, when a student visits the nurse's office, a record is created of the visit, but there's no efficient way to get that information to the parent. We'd like to be able to set up a notification for students when they visit the nurse's office that would go to their parents, so that they can be informed as soon as possible when their child goes to the nurse.
Amazing that I had to Google to see why Nurse's office wasn't notifying parents, only to find out it's been a feature request for 9 years...What is the point of the Nurse's office if parents don't have any knowledge of what is happening to their student? This seems like a basic feature that should have been rolled out with Nurse's office.
Came specifically to the Idea Bank to add this idea and found this one from 2016. We are having to log the visit in the Nurse's Office module within Blackbaud and then having to manually send an email alerting parents to login and check details about the visit. The functionality to send an automatic email notification exists dozens of other places within the system, so it is disappointing that it is not available in the Nurse's Office as well. If the visit cannot trigger the notification, then at the very least, the official note types within the Nurse's Office should have the option to trigger notifications to parents. With 201 votes, this is needed functionality.
This would be SO SO helpful! Please put this into action.
Looking at this again, I see that not only is there an alert that their student was seen by the nurse, there is also no way for a parent to view the note even if they are logged in. There doesn't seem to have been any movement on this in 8 years!
This would be extremely helpful and would allow the nurse to have more time with the student.
This is really important. Need to have a box that is private to the role of nurse and then a box with details for the parent that would be in the notification. Thanks.
Commenting again to underscore that this is so needed! I think two options are actually required - one a checkbox that will send a notice to parents when their child has a nurse visit that the parent should particularly be aware of. And second, every nurse visit should be listed in the child's account in the parent portal so the parents can access that information on their own.
I would love to have this tool. A) for sharing accident reports and B) if parents could read all notes taken of their child's visit, that would be amazing. I have two very worried parents who want to be informed every time their child shows up.
This would be so helpful!
This would be a huge improvement and free up time spent on redundant efforts.
Please please make this happen in 2022! Our nurses want to move to Magnus for this reason. Other local schools use Renweb and they have the ability for the automated note to go out. Blackbaud needs to make this feature a priority for 2022!
@Angela, I agree with Kaitlin Wade's comment. The notification would be a perfect way for us to let parents in our school know that their child was seen by the nurse. Thank you for your consideration.
Angela, it needs to be the latter or it may be a HIPAA violation. Can't send medical details via email. Most systems I've seen that do this functionality send an email telling the parent to log in to the system to view information about their child (and that's it). It doesn't even say that the reason they need to log in is for something medical nor identify the child in question. Could it appear under official notes? Maybe piggyback on the functionality for infractions which allows the person putting in the infraction to determine visibility for each infraction?
Looking forward to getting this in the system!
@ Angela; I would prefer that the email be a simple notification stating something along the lines of, "Your child was seen by the School Nurse. Please login to view details." Now, if the email can be sent securely (as the information within the visit itself will be sensitive), I would support the visit information be in the notification email.
Additionally, I believe that this being an optional function is important.
@Angie Please have variables that we can include in the email message. At least in our schools parents would get frustrated if they got an email from a nurse and then how to take the extra steps of logging in (eternal battle to get parents to log in).
Schools that do want to have parents log in can just not use the variables so it's a win for both use cases.
Personally I would like it to be an option within the nurses visit. A check box: Send to Parents. That way the parent directly receives the visit note.
Hi all, I started considering this and would like to put out for input to you all what you would expect of the visit details would be be available as variables in the message or would you only want it to send them a message that there was a visit and they should log in to see the details?
Is there a way to see if this has been sent to developers? I feel this is a very important feature that is lacking and that blackbaud needs to respond too.
Please get this in motion ASAP. Should be a standard feature of the platform. Shocked it is not even an option.
Yes! This would help so much!
