Alert notice that notifies Faculty, Staff and Nurses when there are contact restrictions or other special instructions for contacting a family

Currently there is no "obvious" notification for all personnel that have access to contact information when special situations apply.

If a parent is marked as do not contact in the relationship section of a students contact card a notification banner should display for any view in "onRecord, onBoard, Core or Nurses Office.

If a parent is marked as do not contact, their email address should not be available in onCampus bulk email for groups such as activities, advisories, teams and academics.

Having the notification banner will definitely cut down the opportunity for some very unpleasant phone calls.

It's been a frustrating morning, so please excuse the rant.

IMHO, there needs to be a field for Contact Codes, that:

    1. Permits multiple values, based on a table.

    2. Is attached to the student's name fields, so it is visible/accessible everywhere.

    3. Is a filter (and column) for all lists.

    4. Is automatically applied to all school forms.

Similar to solicit codes in RE, these codes should be restricted to a table of options (where types of restriction are checkbox options), and should semi-automatically place restrictions on how a family is contacted, across the entire database.

In the short term, it could be attached to just students. Later development could include a "translation" table that changed codes from A to B when roles changed.

For example: a Contact Code of "Primary Only" would deal with the issue of "how to stop both parents from being bombarded with emails - but keep the email addresses on both parent records".

A code of "Restricted" (that appeared everywhere) would be a reliable way to gently remind everyone to review the record before contacting (or allowing contact with) this student.

Providing the option of short forms or icons to represent these codes would deal with space issues, but this is an important enough problem that I suspect people would deal.

While I'm dreaming, a comment field attached to the code would be nice. Maybe build on the existing comment field?

Is there any way for us to publish this information the way we publish learning profiles and medical information? If I publish the information to advisors, I want just that student's advisor to see it, not ALL advisors. If I publish the information to faculty, I want just the student's teacher to see it, not ALL teachers. Is this possible?

    Hi all,

I am very pleased to announce that we have released Profile Notices which allows staff to be alerted to special information attached to student records. Here is a link explaining the new feature. Please reach out to me if you have any feedback or questions.

    All the best,

Maybe as a quick fix while this is still under consideration, giving us the ability to change the color of the contact card on the teacher's roster. That way when the teacher see that the color is different they will know it is a warning and can check the student file for further information.

In addition, it should be linked to the student's roster information

This was first requested 4 years ago. This is still greatly needed.

yes! we currently use a school form for this and I used up two of our custom form fields in order to get it to display on the profiles. But a specific function would be excellent!

This is extremely important. It is clear from the large number of votes and numerous stories of bad but avoidable situations that some kind of alert is very necessary.

This is a feature that, sadly, is essential. Equally important would be the ability to specify who to contact and when both parents (rather than either) must be contacted (rather than simply who should not be contacted).

Yes, I agree, with the new school year coming up in August, right now there is not way to add anything that shows up.  We put items of importance in the Official Notes, but the note itself doesn't pop up and it is not available for everyone to see.

Yes!  This!  Our student safety is paramount and this should be top of the list to implement. Some sort of proactive pop-up alert is critical to this. Depending on a custom field, or some other location that requires staff to go look for the information simply isn't sufficient.  We are seeing more issues like this where there is a formal restraining order in place, but we have no effective way to alert our staff to these protections.

A banner or popup would help us manage these special instructions.

It is extremely critical that we communicate to ALL of our teachers, office staff,  administrators and part-time after school workers that there are custodial restrictions on file for a parent.  We had already come up with a solution until we realized that only Platform Managers could see these additional relationship notes like NO CONTACT or Lives with.

I cannot stress how important this feature is. Many others who have commented surely feel the same way. We really need this added as an option.
