The new invoice layout has a sentence at the top, in red text, that brings their past due balance immediately to their attention and emphasizes that it's due right away. For families that are newly past due or perpetually delinquent, it's a great feature, but for a family that owes just a $1.00 or $0.01, it is embarrassing to some schools that such a low balance is being emphasized. An enhanced invoice layout, which takes into account very small or very large balances, is needed to account for these one-off situations.
Agreed that highlighting the past due balance is a good feature, but it can backfire when the amount past due is a few dollars, or worse, just a few cents. Families generally understand that this is an automatic message but it does not make Blackbaud nor the school look good.
I agree with the suggestion that there could be a certain past due amount threshold under which that red text would not be included.
