The fields that are available are so limited the template feature is more work than it is helpful.  It would be nice to have the majority of fields from the student's contact card, including school defined and admin view only fields, available so that a template library can be built and used year after year.  Also, if that template could be accessed from the student's record, like Actions in EE, that would add incredible functionality to the communication template feature.
