Please consider unlimited character entry for profile notices.
There is currently a character limit in the profile notice text box. Please consider unlimited character entry or at least increase the number of characters currently in place.
In our experience, the nurse can enter and save over 500 or whatever characters, but it cuts off and doesn't display over 500 in the Faculty and staff view. It should be the same, if the faculty and staff can't view it so much, no one should be able to enter that many.
Yes, we do have SIS and utilize the LPs. I think it is just a preferential thing here at our school to keep extended time rules, spelling exceptions, diagnosis notes, etc in the LP and make further comments available in a profile notice for other explanations.
Hi Leslie! Thanks for the additional context. Does your school have Blackbaud Student Information System? I'm wondering whether the Nurse's Office capability or Learning Profile would meet this need, and if not, what the limitation is of those features. In the profile notice, we are limited in character count because of a limitation in the auditing table that supports User profile changes and Handle profile changes. However, we noticed that there were conflicting character limits when adding a new notice vs. saving an existing notice. We have work planned to make both add and save work with 500 characters (the larger limit of the 2) and to give users warning so no data is lost.
Hi Jessica! Typically, our profile notices are short and sweet - "Parents are going through divorce", "Death in the family"... those types of things. We have a student in a motorized scooter who requires special accommodations for getting to/from class, seating, notes for care during a fire drill, etc. We wanted faculty to have this information readily available from the student profile. The profile notice let me save the note, but then when I went back to view it from a faculty perspective, I noticed it cut off after so many characters. I had to create 2 profile notices to include all the pertinent information. If I could email you directly, I can show you what happens when the tile expands and talk through the view.
Hi there! I'm intrigued by the request for a bigger field. Can you tell me what kind of information you're putting here that exceeds the current limit? What does that do to the experience when the Profile Notice tile gets super long and the General info data is pushed out of view; is that problematic?
