Enhanced reports, lists and exports

Please bring over the option of Query, Export and Reports fields from EE to the On products. They are far superior to what is available right now. I am trying to run projected enrollment numbers for the 2016/17 year and am having nothing but problems. An extremely upset and frustrated customer right now!

I hear you, and I regret that my comment was off-putting to you. When I meant "Hang in there, it's coming!," you heard something far less inspiring. I offer a few points in response (for all 376 of you):

    1. Reporting is the #1 investment for Core for the foreseeable future. The Core team is working to adopt a more modern infrastructure that will enable us to wildly innovate across our reporting toolset. Things like natural language query, chat-to-chart, predictive models, benchmarking, AI agents, and more are within reach. While that initial work is our top priority but highly sequential, we're using remaining capacity to modernize the tools we have today. You've likely already seen the facelift in the list of Reports; the list of basic and advanced lists will release later this summer; Basic lists are migrating to the Query editor workflow you see in Raiser's Edge NXT; and so much more. That's the beginning - certainly not the destination.

    2. Email fatigue? Many of you probably received multiple notifications from the Idea Bank today as I worked to update Core Ideas for accuracy - a common request we've heard via Customer Success. Those notifications were brief so the task could be completed (because you should have a current Idea bank to work with), but I'm so excited to share the contents of the plan (near and future) at the User Conference in Boston, via webinars announced in Core, at bbcon, in the Product Update Briefings, at in-person user meetups, etc.

    3. Guidelines Product Managers follow here:

      1. We reserve "Planned" for things we expect to deliver - totally, not pieces of it - within the next 12 months. If we can't check the box on all pieces of the description, then we don't close it.

      2. Comments provide helpful context, and they're a common source of interview contacts.

      3. Neither small/succinct nor large/complex/lengthy enhancement requests are more likely to be implemented. The impact of the solution we can deliver is ultimately what matters.

      4. In this case, I fear a "Planned" status would be misleading since this is a multi-year, multi-feature, massively innovative redesign of our capabilities. "Under consideration" is woefully underselling the plan and investment to solve important problems here, but I will not falsely imply this will be quick.

    4. I'm always, always talking to users. If you're interested in providing feedback about our reporting landscape, I invite you email me to join our discovery program - first.last@blackbaud.com. I'm eager to hear from you! (I also get an email for every comment and every new idea that lands in Core's Idea bank!)

Wow. First response from Blackbaud in 10 years. We are thankfully moving away from Blackbaud.

Hi all! The entire Reporting capability set is under construction. This idea is too broad and vague to be "Planned" in its entirety, but things are happening! For that reason, I'll leave it "Under Consideration" though the full scope will take quite a while to complete. Cheers!

There are so many reports in the system, but we need the ability to change what fields are in a report and how they display. Education Edge was much better with querying, exporting, and reporting. I've lost a lot of functionality in this area due to the shift to Education Management.

We implemented Blackbaud Education Management this year. Overall, it has been a great experience and I love Blackbaud! But the lack of functional and comprehensive reporting has been my biggest disappointment and time waster. I agree that the ability to have RE style query and export options are critical to efficiently managing academic records. The manage basic and advanced list functions is, frankly, pretty awful. The analysis sky reporting is promising but very limited by the available insights. I just signed up for the insight designer trial and so far it seems excellent but disappointing that this is yet another additional fee for what is currently the only comprehensive reporting application.

I would sell functional and vital organs for the ability to use an RE-style query and export in the K12 system!

The ability to select and work with a group of records is extremely limited in ON compared with Education Edge. This applies in many aspects of the program, e.g. printing reports, report cards or schedules for a selected group of students.

    Jake

Yes, I have explored some of them. Although a step in the right direction
they are still limited by data that is not available to select in the
column list and to limitations in other sections of the system, medical and
attendance in particular. But most definitely an improvement!

    Thank you,

    Gregg

I'm curious if you have used the new SKY Reporting dashboards? These in conjunction with SKY Lists are where we are headed with these kinds of reports. We are also working on a drag and drop report creator that will allow you to create your own reports. We're not planning to implement queries per se, but I think you'll find these new options to be very useful. Thanks for bearing with us as we continue to improve these functions.

At a minimum more sorting and filtering options are needed on almost all reports.  Why would you have a report that can't be filtered or sorted by the data it is reporting.  See this idea https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io/ideas/K12CO-I-972 for an even better solution.  Let us build our own reports.

I was SHOCKED to find that Blackbaud doesn't seem to offer Custom Reporting professional services for the "on" products. The "custom" reporting we got as part of our onBoard implementation wound up being minor hand-holding with the creation of some Advanced Lists- NOT anything like the custom Crystal Reports we got for EE. Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but the idea that the pre-canned reports, or worse, LISTS would meet every school's needs for reporting is disingenuous at best. Blackbaud KNOWS that most customers made good use of the Query, Export & Report features for their day-to-day operations in EE. We need something like those in "on"!

I have also been extremely frustrated with the limitations of reports/lists and advanced lists. The Query function in EE is very user friendly and flexible.
