This solves a bunch of problems:

1. Topics become useful (assignments would be linked to topics allowing for action items to be incorporated into a topic).
2. Teachers could create "topic" bins in their gradebook that would all contain all the assignment types they had selected.
3. Teachers could decide if they wanted to have weighting in topics and/or assignment types.
4. Teachers who didn't want to use topics could turn it off.
