I would like the selection of the "M" to then calculate as a zero in the current grading period average.

Replying to Angela Addison on this - we want it to be automatic that if an M is marked, it triggers that a "0" is input into the grade. Removing the step of teachers also having to enter the 0 as well as marking "M."

I think that our teachers will want the ability to configure what (if any) numeric grade or letter grade should be recorded for the Missing flag (or other flags).

This does not already exist! When an assignment has no grade because it hasn't been turned in, it is not calculated in the cumulative grade. What we want is that when an assignment is marked Missing to calculate it in the grade (as a zero).

I believe that the teacher who suggested this to me wanted it to automatically place the zero if they did not fill the grade in. That way if they missed adding a zero when it came time to calculate the grade, if there was an M there, the program would recognize the empty box as a zero.
