Due Date/Time on Assessments and Assignments
Merged
I would like both assessments and assignments to have a Due Time in addition to the Due Date. This is so teachers can give an assessment to see what students have learned so the teacher can pre-prepare their lecture so they can make their class discussion more effective.
Why did it take four years for Admin to respond to this request?
I vote yes to having a time option. Is it in the works?
Multiple teachers would like to be able to set the time on the due date within the Turnitin integration. This is very important to our teachers!
This feature is essential to teachers working in rotating schedules, and is one of several key features that schools transitioning to onCampus from Google Classroom miss from that other service.
Also, a teacher raised the concern that without a due 'time', work submitted after school is magically "always correct", and if to be done before class actually meets, its hard to mark as late if not done.
Turnitin assignments on OnCampus have a date and time stamp for when the assignment is created, but teachers can not change the default 23:59 pm DUE TIME for the DUE DATE. The DUE TIME feature is available in other platforms like Moodle. This is a VERY IMPORTANT feature for teachers. Please work on changing this feature.
As mentioned previously, the lack of a due time is really problematic with the Turnitin Integration. We have no way to set the time on the due date. It cannot be modified in either Turnitin or OnCampus. There is a timestamp for when it is assigned. There should be one for when it is due. It seems more important. This matters a lot to our teachers. Please work on this change!
Including a "Due Time" along with a "Due Date" for any type of assessment should be a high priority for development simply because the calculation method for displaying "Due in x days" on a student's assignment detail presents conflicting information. The calculation is based on 11:59 PM of the due date which, if a class finishes at 8:00 a.m. and the assignment is due for class on that date, the assignment is still stating "1 day until due" and is not flagged as overdue until 16 hours after class is over! I understand that the visual calendar and the due date are presented correctly; however, if a student is preparing his work plan based on the number of days due, then the student when seeing "due in 2 days" may miscalculate that the test is actually tomorrow rather than 2 days from now.
A teacher would like to have an assignment due date and time so assignments must be submitted by 4pm. With LTI integration in play, Turnitin allows this, but is locked out because onCampus does not.
