We really need to have more options of present in class attendance codes such as present in building, present virtual or present alternate accommodations. It is really important especially for students that get state scholarships and they are watching how the students are in school and if they are present.
With the 9/1/2020 release, a new attendance type has been added to the system. Attendance codes can now be assigned as Absence, Tardy, or Virtual.
Codes assigned the Virtual type will not be considered in any absence or tardy counts throughout the system.
Upcoming releases will include the ability to report on the Virtual type.
We really need the ability to report on Present, and POST through the API. While Virtual is a good stop-gap, we need "Present" to just work as everything else does.
Where are we with being able to add "Present" options to Attendance? I know this was updated as a stop-gap for schools, but is still a work around. The "Virtual Present" options we are all using fall under the Absent Category, which is not a long term fix.
Thanks - 3/9/2021
Really need to be able to report on this ASAP. Adding virtual attendance is great for the teacher in the classroom. However, if we have a fire drill there is no way to figure who is on campus.
It's November already. This is not a new issue. This should have been resolved by now.
We need to be able to see on the student record that they attended virtually. The attendance secretary can't enter the new code if the type is set to Virtual and it doesn't show up on the student record. If we change the type to Absence, then it shows up.
Tuesday's attendance type addition is a start in the right direction. However, our state law mandates that we provide a Present count on the report cards and transcripts. The new attendance type (Virtual) doesn't allow for calculations. We need to be able to report those attending virtually.
They just added a new feature yesterday. See the release notes.
We have been requesting this for a while as well. We have off campus retreats, and honor roll holidays, that still consider the student 'present' for recording purposes.
Virtual attendance has brought this back into the limelight...
It would be great to show present- school sponsored trip as well, to note they are "present" but not in the building- for fire drills or whatever- the same goes for virtual.
