Our faculty would like to see Q1 grades while entering the Q2 grades.

My faculty has requested to see the previous Quarter grades when entering the current quarter in.  This would help to make sure they can catch if any of the students grades dropped drastically and such.  So when entering Q4 grades, they would see Q3, Q2, and Q1 also?  Going in and printing them out is far too time consuming.

    Hi Folks -

With today's release, we have implemented a new end of term grade entry experience for faculty. This update will not show to faculty until it has been enabled in Core > Settings > Activate new features.

Before enabling this new feature, please give the webinar, linked below, a watch. There's some important information about how the new experience calculates grades which may require a small update to your existing Grade Translations before enabling the new experience.

End of term overview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXz2IMcvlnQ

In this update, it is now possible for teachers to see previously recorded grades so they can more easily see and track student progress throughout the length of the given course, this includes Assessment Skills.

A couple other small enhancements with this update:

    • Comments now auto-save every 15-20 seconds.

    • Bulk comments now have a student selector.

    • A narrative mode has been introduced to facilitate long-form comment writing.

    • Mastery Skills can now be linked to Assessment skills.

If you have feedback on this new feature, feel free to reach out or schedule a meeting with me using the link below!

Our teachers need to see past standard and assessment grades.

Ideally the past term assessment skill or grade would pre-populate and teachers could alter them. I want to reiterate that we want this feature for assessment skills as well as grades.

any update? will this work for Assessment Skills also?

Will teachers have the ability to copy the previous quarter assessments into the current grading period? For the majority of students their assessments remain the same from quarter to quarter. This would save a lot of tedious reenter of the same data.

Wow! You all filled those slots up super quickly!

Thank you to those who opted into the discovery session, it is much appreciated. For those that weren't able to snag a spot, don't worry. I'll keep you in a waiting list and will reach out if we need further discovery for this project.

Very excited to get this work into your hands in the future, and clearly you all are very excited for it too! More to come on this project in the future. Stay tuned!

    Hi Folks -

I just wanted to drop a note and say 'Thank you' to all of you who signed up for our initial round of discovery. It was incredibly helpful and really helped us to solidify our prototype and direction for the new end of term grading experience for Faculty.

We are currently looking for 5 more schools to participate in a usability test. If you are interested, you can follow the link below to sign up for some of our available discovery session slots.

Thank you again! We're excited to get this work underway that way you all can begin to take advantage of this feature sometime in the 23-24 school year!

Excited to see this get implemented as soon as possible. The ability to check that faculty have correctly calculated the average of 1st semester and 2nd semester grades for the final grade will make things so much easier as a reviewer (and as a teacher entering the grades too).

    Hello Everyone -

Just wanting to give an update on this. We're in the process of refining a couple prototypes for a redesign of the screen faculty use when inserting report card / transcript grades. As part of that project, we're including the ability to see previous Grade Plan Grades on that screen.

If you are interested in providing feedback on our prototypes as we work through this project, feel free to use the link below to schedule a session and we'll gather your feedback!

I am realizing that many of us that are voting for this idea are using "grades" in different ways. We aren't talking about a report that shows the "A, B, C, D, F" grades for students - we mean a report that displays the Assessment Skills and the rating that was given to the student.

Ideally, for schools that use Assessment Skills - we need a method to create a Report Card that groups by Teacher - then Course and then Student. When I had Crystal Reports - I built that report. I no longer have that tool - and the tool that replaced Crystal Reports currently does not give me that functionality.

We need this for assessment grades as well. Viewing all previous grades is really virtually necessary.

Please, please do this ASAP. It would be a tremendous time savings. It's essential that the assessment grades be available, not just the letter grades which are far easier to track on their own.

With the demise of Crystal Reports - this has become an even greater need. I enlisted the help of a SQL expert to create a macro for me to create a version of this report - but it would be much more efficient if the teachers could view this on their own.

Agreed that this is highly requested from my teachers. For example, when entering third trimester (T3) report card grades, they would love to see grayed-out columns to the left for T1 and T2 as a reference of what grades/skills were awarded previously. This is very analogous to how the report card displays a growing number of columns for each previous academic term.

I just wrote the exact same thing. Our EC teachers would benefit from seeing their previous grades from earlier trimesters when entering grades for the current trimester. It shows progress and consistency. We were previously with SIS which did allow this display. For our first year with Blackbaud, I'm afraid they're not going to be to thrilled about printing everything out.

We need this to happen asap. The teachers depend on being able to see those previous grades/comments so we can determine semester grades etc.
