I confess I do not have a great deal of experience with Schedule Maker. However, so far I have found it to be of limited usefulness in creating our high school schedule. Much of the Schedule Maker process seems to designed to assign teachers to teach sections and then placing the sections into an appropriate room. However-- we do NOT approach our schedule that way. We have a small teaching staff and we already know before we begin who will teach every section. Rooms are also pre-assigned for all but a few sections. I need a process that will look at student requests and help place the sections in such as way as to minimize student conflicts.
I can't believe a schedule maker would NOT take student requests into account when determining the best placement for sections. Schedule maker should minimize student conflicts as a high priority.
I whole-heartedly agree. The hard part of scheduling is resolving conflict in student schedules. The Master Schedule generator should look at both teacher restrictions and student class requests when figuring out where to assign classes to blocks.
