PRN medications added to Medical Form
Our nurses use a defined set of over the counter medication to treat symptoms when given explicit permission to do so by the parent. Permission is only valid for one year. We would like to add 10 common over the counter medications to the "permission to treat" section of the medical form, where they would be able to select each individually to grant permission. Having this information collected by the medical form and populated on the medical card for quick access during a visit would be extremely helpful and efficient.

We released an update to the Medical form today for the Specific Authorization to Treat that is required for OTC medications. Hopefully parents will comply with printing, completing, signing, and uploading the attached required PDF. That's a lot of steps and hoops for parents to jump through to comply with state regulations for administration of OTC medication. We expect that Blackbaud will need to create a workflow through the Medical module and forms to do this. It's concerning that this idea has been unaddressed since 2016. What is the delay?

Agree with all the comments below! Nurses are managing two systems just to have the list of OTC medications. Seem like an easy fix..not sure why it has not been amended yet..

Please add this feature! We have tried a paper permission form in the past that doesn't always get turned in. Then, when trying to call a parent, there is no answer and so the student has to go untreated because the nurse doesn't have permission to give a medication. Also, some parents are very specific about how much medication they want their student to have, so this can't be a blanket form: it has to allow for customization. This feature would do wonders for furthering medical forms.

We would like to have the medications option on all reason for visits. For example, if the reason for visit is headache which is classified as "not feeling well" the nurse cannot add the otc medication given to the student. We would need to re-classify the majority of reasons to visit type medication. And once a reason is used the type cannot be changed.
Another option would be to allow under reason for visit for two different visit types to be added i.e. headache (not feeling well) and medication otc (medication).
Right now the system is very too hard coded to allow for these needs.

This PRN is overdue. We have unsuccessfully tried to use conditions with OTC medications and it has been a disaster. Help on this area.

The medical form is too prescriptive to be useful. Allowance for multiple customized fields would make these forms much more helpful.

Agree - we use OTC - we're tucking it in under "conditions" now to get it to show up in the Nurse's Dashboard for a student

The Over the Counter Medications should appear on the medical form and the student medical card. The school nurse needs to have this information all in one place.

In addition to adding these items to the medical form we would like to see this information stored on the student medical card. Having this information readily available to the Nurse allows her to quickly access this info while tending to multiple students while minimizing the potential for error.
