Unchecked checkboxes should be empty squares, not pre-checked

From an interface point of view, I believe most people are familiar with the concept of a checkbox - whether on paper or in an electronic format. Everywhere else except K12/ON, however, an unchecked checkbox is an empty square.

When you look at a K12/ON form which has checkboxes - especially if you are new to the platform (as most of our parents, students, and staff are) - it looks like all boxes are pre-checked. You have to retrain to recognize that a checked checkbox is blue with a white checkmark and an unchecked checkbox is white with a white checkmark, rather than checked is checked and unchecked in unchecked.

I would like to propose that Blackbaud alter the appearance of all unchecked checkboxes from the current square with outlined checkmark in it (ie white square with white checkmark) to a blank/empty square with no checkmark. A checked checkbox can therefore remain blue with white checkmark, or be altered to match corporate colours.
