We continually need to add notes to a student's profile, whether past student, current student, etc. for a variety of reasons. Outside of Enrollment Management for a Candidate or Past Candidate, and outside of Academics for a Current Student, there is literally no other area to put a note. This is a critical piece to record keeping, and seems to be a huge oversight. I'm suggesting Core so that all portals can read the note, and the notes would be in one spot for the student.
Adding the ability to send Official Notes within EM to those with "Student" status would be extremely helpful! The Admission Office still needs to easily communicate with these families.

Yes, please try to have the Official Notes continue on from Enrollment
Management Admissions to follow the student through in Core as they are
current students and also as they are past students.

Hi folks, let me get with the team here and see if we can come to agreement on a cross app functionality that's consistent for schools.
I'm miffed that it's been over a year and we are still pleading for this common sense change to be made. My communication with families, and creation of internal notes shouldn't have to cease once a candidate becomes a student. In fact, it doesn't end there at all, I have just had to devise my own way of keeping track of such things because the ability to create notes in BB goes away. So irritating.
Still waiting on a unified note solution. If you need more use cases on why this is so important:
When the registrar gets a records request for a past student, they are not able to add a note showing that they sent the records on a particular date and to whom. This is kind of an important thing. If they wanted to make a note, they would have to make the former student current again, add the note, then make them a past student again. Really?
Notes are made during the admissions process that are pertinent to the registrar, yet they are not available to the registrar without me giving them access to the enrollment management module and switching over to view them.
It just doesn't make sense to keep them so siloed. Notes need to be available in all modules and should be permission controlled by type.
We would love to be able to do notes for recent students (graduated and past students who were withdrawn). We need to promote students soon after graduation so those sending forms, etc. don't include grads or withdrawn, but have to postpone so ONs can be done first and this causes issues. If we could send ONs to past students and alumni, that would be awesome.
This must happen! In Enrollment Management we still need to be able to enter notes and send communications to enrolled students. Simply add the status of "Student" to the Official Note Types. Please!

YES PLEASE. In Enrollment Management we also handle re-enrollment of current students. When current families ask us for things like an extension for financial aid or a change to the contract, we have no way of noting that in the file. We have to keep a whole bunch of external spreadsheets and remember to read through all of them during re-enrollment. It seems shortsighted to not allow Admissions any ability to put notes in the file once a student enrolls. We are still very much involved.
Yes, having this added will allow us to centralize important information. As I oversee all Int'l Students, there are immigration aspects and details that are unique to my population, so securing them there, will allow my colleagues to better understand each circumstance. The more we can centralize information, the better we can be unified and serve our community.
The big irritation about the current setup is that there are significant limitations on official notes in each of the other areas they are currently available. For enrollment management, parents can no longer see the notes in the section once their children become enrolled, plus those notes are only available from within that module. In Academics, the notes can only be added for current students, so if you wanted to add a note for a former student (i.e. documenting that records were sent to another school, etc), you can't do it without making them active again, which is asinine. Also, the process of editing an existing note is cumbersome and not a great workflow.
As far as I'm concerned the notes don't have to live in Core, but I fully support the idea of a unified solution where notes could be added to any record at any time and accessible from any module (depending on the security settings of a particular note type).
I just loved the idea of having a common area for everyone to see. It's all about customer service.
My previous comment had grammatical and spelling errors, sorry about that. I would like to see this feature added to core. It would allow the school to be more effective and show excellence in our customer service.
Students are potentially with the school for 18 years, since we have infants up to 12th grade. We need a common area to collect and view information as the student and family changes over the years.
