Ethnicity should not be a single choice

Many schools including ours have students that are biracial.  To properly represent this data there should really be 2 separate sets of checkboxes that allow the selection of more than one item for each student.  The first set of checkboxes would provide the optional capability to choose one or more of the following ethnic groups: latino/hispanic, middle eastern, indian, american indian, pacific islander.  The second set of checkboxes would provide the optional capability to choose one or more of the following races: white (caucasian), black, asian.

These could even be combined into one.  But it minimizes the need to come up with an infinite number of combinations.

Thank you for implementing this much needed update. I can see the change in the contact card in Core, however it requires someone to go in and manually update the ethnicity for each record. We have parents select/update ethnicity through the Profile Update form in Academics. Can this update be brought over to the Academic Forms (Profile Update)?

I agree that there should be the capability for a student to choose more than one ethnicity and more than one race. Also if there is an 'other' option then there should also be space to fill what that is. I've never liked the option of just 'other'. It makes it seem like it's not important as the ones listed.

    Thanks,Rasha

Agree that this is an important priority for diversity and inclusion.

I'm assuming this field in OnBoard ties into the fields in Core. We do not use OnBoard, however it would be VERY helpful for this data to be collected with the option to check more than one category and tie into the Profile Update form. I would like to add an additional request onto this, the field within Core that sores data about "is latino/hispanic" should be an option in the school forms as well. Currently, school forms only allows input for Ethnicity, Religion & Citizenship. Many other systems that we use request this data and it is useful to have statistics to report to prospective parents if they ask about student diversity.
