Notifications should be sent if a student submits an assignment that has been marked missing, or if discussion posts are made.

If an assignment is marked missing in the gradebook, it would be helpful if a notification setting were available to signal to teachers that something late has come in. In addition it would be useful if a notification were sent when a discussion post were made.

    I'm sorry folks, my apologies this one I think got picked up in my query for missing assignment notification and I did a blanket update. Usually I catch ones that aren't the same as the others. In this case while we did the missing assignment one we did not do the submission on missing assignment notification so marking back as under consideration and copying @Ben Leddy here who can keep an eye on the traffic and prioritize!

    Under Academics > Communications > Notifications filter on Academic type or go to the same navigation under Academics. If you enable it for the roles you want then those users can go to their notification preferences and opt-in (consistent with other opt-in notification functionality).

    The missing assignment notification was implemented. Discussions is a separate notification so we should get a different idea out here if there isn't one already.
