Give teachers a "student view" option

Give teacher's a "student view" option so they can routinely see student experience of content, particularly as it relates to grade books and assignments.

It would be helpful to also see the parent view (without sensitive information of course) so they can help parents know what to look for.

Not at this time, though that is a request we heard a few times during the EAP. Currently it works like impersonate - the Viewer sees everything the student sees, but only for Students and only in a non-editing mode. Further enhancements to the new View as Student feature should be new enhancement requests. This Idea won't be included in future queries since it's Implemented, and I don't want your voice to be lost! :)

For additional questions, please contact Support or join me on December 3rd to review aallllll the details! Register for the View as Student webinar here.

We were all very excited about this new tool! One quick question...

Our director of instruction noticed that faculty & advisors can also see the students' messages and message history with this view. Is it possible to turn that portion off?

In a nutshell, Platform Managers can search the Tasks list for 3 tasks - View as my students, View as my advisees, and View as any student. These will need to be Enabled for each role; they are disabled by default. Then teachers/advisors/admins will see the View as button on the user profile header - in every place you can see the contact card. In addition to the Help Docs shared by Bryna, there will be 2 webinars where you can learn more:

    1. Join the Product Update Briefing (PUB) on Thursday, November 20 to see all recently released and coming enhancements! To sign up, register here.

    2. I'll host a webinar to review the View as Student feature and answer implementation questions on December 3. Register for the View as Student webinar here.

You can also find What's New from the Blogs section of this user community.

Or from your Core home dashboard, under Resources, select Visit our help center and then choose What's new.

Your Core home dashboard may also show a popup message in the lower right corner that says:

"View as student is generally available! Platform Managers can visit Core > Security > Roles > Tasks list to review and manage roles with a View as task. See our Help Docs for guidance configuring the new tool!" If you select Don't show this again the pop up goes away forever.

This is exciting! Can anyone please tell me HOW the teachers are able to do this? I've impersonated a teacher and clicked around to a few places I thought it might be, but have not found it anywhere... Thanks!

It would be great for "View as Parent" to be added to this feature set, as well, especially for administrators and other mid-level managers who aren't in the classroom but are having the tough conversations with parents.

The EAP is at full capacity, and we have made a few adjustments thanks to feedback from participants. While I'm not able to accept new participants in the EAP, the good news is that View as Student is expected to be generally available just before November! We are eager to get this tool in your hands!
