Better interface to clean up "uploads" content type

When adding an updated PDF file to the uploads section, I frequently would like to to remove the old PDF file. However it is so time consuming and difficult to identify the old pdf file that in most cases it is just left there. Adding a few features to the uploads content type page would go a long way.

  1. The ability to search by description

  2. The ability to filter by insert date year or range of dates

  3. Adding sort would to the results would also be beneficial

  4. Separate description and file path into two columns

Everyone should benefit by this including Blackbaud. You might just reduce your storage and backup demands.

Just as important is the ability to REPLACE a file already uploaded! There is no way to know everywhere a file might be used and to have to fix the link everywhere is terrible, when I could just replace the file with the corrected one....

I came to Ideas to request sorting Uploads by description (see attached image) and discovered this solid idea from Gregg. Community, can we get some more attention on this?

Please give these excellent suggestions consideration, including Amanda and Eric's comments. +1 to Eric's idea for replacing outdated files.

Another sub-idea: I'd like to see my original file name somewhere, if possible.

TIA for supporting and replying to this idea!

Search is the biggest thing I'd like to see. The interface is so lacking in functional features.

Corollary idea - make it possible to REPLACE a misc uploaded item, similar to how Downloads categories work. Sometimes people have no idea of all the places where a link to a misc upload might live... but they need to replace the outdated file. It would save time, work, and as Gregg says, disk space if we could just replace the file.
