Confirmation Notification email for forms (public users)

I would like the ability to send notifications for custom forms to users who have not signed in.

Hi @Joseph Schuberth, thanks for your feedback. I've been at Blackbaud for a year, so can only guess that other things with higher votes took priority but don't know the history on this particular one. But just to clarify, you're indicating that at least in your case, if we enhanced this feature at this point you would still choose to stick with your other app? @Julie Horvath, thanks also for your comments! Would you be interested in talking about the questions I posed above and a potential path forward? Let me know if so and I can get something on the calendar. Angela.Addison@blackbaud.com

Angela, Blackbaud's lack of response to this for years means that everyone has moved on found other options. I myself am paying for jotform, which works beautifully. I recommend it to anyone looking for a forms option to fill in the gaps that Blackbaud left. It's sad that Blackbaud markets a product that just doesn't do what they say it's going to do and we have to pay for other products just to get a functioning website.

Would anyone be willing to get on the phone to do a little discovery on this? I'm wondering a couple of things - if school forms could be embedded in school website and public then would you still need to use custom forms? Or do you see a need for those to be separate things? Since school forms have confirmation message capability. And better styling options it seems. Are there other gaps with those?

    Hello Angela,

The idea is to get an email notification from a Custom Form to a user who submitted who did not login.

No - customizing the message does not help in my mind - I want the non-logged in user to get an email notification.

The Registration Form allows this - so that is one workaround, but that cannot be embedded.

Sometimes we use a Google form, as that can be embedded and a non-logged in user can get a notification.

    Thanks,

    Julie

Hi all, is the fact that we released the ability to customize the confirmation messages on custom forms several months ago resolving of this issue? Let me know if not please. thanks!

I didn't even remember that I had voted on this TWO YEARS AGO... and still nothing has been changed. Frustrating to say the link.

I see this is from 2015, so Blackbaud obviously doesn't care about this basic functionality. Is anyone using other tools to build their forms?

This is unbelievable that Blackbaud would offer a custom forms feature without the ability to send a confirmation email.  Sending a confirmation email for a form submission is a basic functionality that should be added immediately.

Agreed with all of the comments below. This seems like basic form functionality to be able to A. Edit the confirmation message displayed on the page and B. send a confirmation email.

I am using Custom Forms to support an inbound marketing strategy. Not being able to edit the submission page after a custom form is submitted greatly limits the efficacy of my strategy. Additionally, custom forms only send a confirmation email to users who are logged in. If they are used as a public conversion tool, users are neither engaged with a custom email response nor a well-thought out confirmation page.

Echo all of the above. Just found out the public custom forms don't send a confirmation. Not only does it seem like best practice so people know the form worked, but it's been the most effective method for getting tangible action on next steps, even when we put instructions on the page where the form lives. We can't give logins to everyone. Please add soon!

This is huge for us and should be to anyone who worries about their brand.

This seems pretty basic.  It's pretty frustrating that it's available.

Same here.  We were just made aware that this didn't send an email to public users.  Considering there isn't a way to edit the confirmation text that is displayed after a form is submitted, this should be fully functional for all users as a way to communicate "next steps" options.

We use custom forms all the time and never realized people who weren't logged in weren't receiving notifications. It would be great to have this fixed!
