A problem we've run into with teachers recommending while students are requesting is that if a teacher tries to recommend a course that a student has already requested, the recommendation is not saved. Now an advisor cannot see that the student selected a course that they were actually recommended for. We still need that recommendation documented for the student.
As another note, though it is true that essentially implied in the negative space that a request without a recommendation means it would have been recommended in many cases, certainly not all. Additionally, some teachers are enthusiastic about the encouragement this tool provides. Making the aforementioned update would help in that regard.
Teachers should be able to recommend a course even if the student/advisor has requested it. At the very least, an error message should alert the teacher that the course has already been requested.
Please allow teachers to "recommend" a course that has already been requested. This would be a huge benefit to teachers and counselors.
