When I enter an ALLERGY for a student, a red alert bar appears on the student's academic page for non-teaching staff. But if I enter a CONDITION, no such bar appears. It would be great to have that bar appear for either type of entry.
Agreed! With a checkbox so that only the critical conditions - diabetes, seizures, or other "red flag" conditions are immediately viewable. And allergies should be check boxed as well... a tree pollen allergy doesn't need a red banner, but tree nuts, eggs, etc. do. The nurse and/or parent should be able to determine this.
I'm not sure all conditions should be shared with this alert bar, so when entering a new condition it would be nice to have a checkbox that allows us to publish the condition to the red alert bar, or not publish it.

This is silly they don't both show. Asthma is a condition and needs to be up front just like any allergy.
Just a suggestion until they fix this. Create an allergy that says "See conditions". Then users will know to look for it.
