Allow the Student Checklist Comment field to be visible to parents to provide more information to them as to what needs to be done to complete the step.
We have a Student Withdraw Checklist that is assigned when a student is withdrawing. But before we release their transcript, they must complete all steps (technology return, athletic uniform return, tuition obligation, transportation obligation, lunch account obligation, etc.). The parent can view the items and see what still needs to be completed, but we would like for them to be able to see more details that each department enters in the comments, such as (laptop charger, basketball uniform, $5000 due, $1000 due, $200 due) under each of the department checklist items that still have a status of "Awaiting". Right now the Comment field is only for internal use, we would like to be able to make this visible to the parents.

I think it would be useful to be able to choose to make the comments visible, or even better, have a separate internal and external comment field as Seth suggests. This would allow us to customize steps for the student, but we rely on that comment field for internal comments that we do not want to share with parents, so maintaining the option to hide the comments from parents is also important.

Might be even better to have user-viewable content field separate from the internal comment field, but being able to manage the existing field's visibility would be a great start.
