The filter option for selecting recipients of an online form is very limiting when attempting to filter a particular group of constituents within an academic year.  For instance, when trying to design an online form to capture updated education, business, and address information for parents of students returning the next academic year, I cannot select the academic year as a filter because only the role of STUDENT works to provide a filtered selection based on academic year; as a result, the form's data collection would be for the student rather than regarding the parent.   The only option I have right now is to select all individuals with the role of PARENT or INCOMING PARENT and then manually removing parents whose students are not returning the next academic year. (I would be using an advanced list to create this comparison list)

If a distribution list could be used for those online forms that are defined as "regarding the user", the problem would be resolved.
