Transferring grades from one course to another

I would to request that if a student switches sections for the same course (for example: Social Studies -1 to Social Studies -2) that the grades that were already recorded for the old section would transfer over.

    Good Morning Everyone -

With today's release, we have introduced a new setting that teachers can toggle when they are calculating grades. The checkbox is called, 'Include previous section grades' and they will see this on the second step of the calculation wizard. When this setting is enabled, if any students were in a previous section of the course and transferred to a new section, the previous section grades will be included in the calculation.

For example, a student completes Semester 1 in English 1 - A and transfers to English 1 - C for Semester 2. If the final grade is calculated as (Semester 1 grade + Semester 2 grade) / 2, enabling Include previous section grades uses the Semester 1 grade from English 1 – A and the Semester 2 grade from English 1 – C.

We have plans to make this is an admin-level default toggle as we get further in the grading journey project. For now, teachers can enable this while running through the calculation wizard.

    -Mike

I believe this idea (https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io/ideas/K12OR-I-1304) which is in the PLANNED stage is similar to your request.

Very nice to have this, but, it would be best as an option.

Our History/English curriculum for middle and upper school is a shared course and some lower school courses have shared homework and grades. This would be a handy feature for us as well.

This is a HUGE problem for us.  And, this should be a simple fix.  Our old grade book program, Grade Quick, easily accommodated this issue.
