We are an elementary school that takes attendance once a day. I have categories set up for half day absences, but can only use one category per student per day. Sometimes we have a student out for a secondary school visit in the morning and then a different reason in the afternoon, and it would be helpful to be able to note that other than in the comments section of the absence.
