option to notify for missing assignment
I would like an option to send out notifications to parents and advisors when teachers mark assignments late
We would like an option when an assignment is missing, to click that missing assignment within the grade book, and send out a notification to Parents/Advisor. This is an option in Veracross, and we would like to see it in the app.
Hi @Gretchen Amigon, it is the same workflow as other notifications, just a different type. Here is the general notification help documentation https://webfiles.blackbaud.com/files/support/helpfiles/education/k12/full-help/content/bb-core-notification.html?Highlight=notifications. Users will still need to opt-in to receive them once you've set up the notification for their role(s). @Sara Morton, we do not have a mechanism for the user to specify a threshold number, you could open up a new idea for that if you want to see if it gets traction. In the meantime, we do have the Advisor missing assignments feature from advisee roster that advisors can print out and then filter for their students that have more than X assignments on that list if they want to proactively look for them. Hope that helps!
How can we find out how to set this up?
While this has been implemented, I don't see a way to use it with advisors so that they can be notified when an advisee has a missing assignment- it would even be great to notify advisors when students reach a total of 5 missing assignments- or something like that with a threshold. Thank you!
update on this one - we went live with missing assignment and graded assignments notifications last release. Currently for the same roles that added assignment had available. So, students and parents can be set up. We do have adding the ability for advisors to get the missing/graded assignments notification as well, hope to have that out in the next month or so.
This is great new, @Angela. Another thing that would be great is if Missing Assignment notifications could be automatically removed from the students' assignment center at term's end. Every term, I have to remind our faculty to go back into their gradebooks and manually remove the missing assignment marks. If this magically happened on the backend, it would save a lot of time and toil. Thanks!
Angela,
Also important. An easier way for students to access the full description
for the missing assignments. My freshmen have trouble locating them using
the range to find old assignments they need to go back and co.ete. is there
anyway to set up a link from their gradebook directly to the missing or
incomplete assignments?
Thanks,
Liz
Hi Annec@eastside.org, I've been with BB for just a year this week so apologies, I'm not sure what the prior history was on this not making the cut. When I came on last summer LMS was knee deep in a major initiative for Competency Based Learning and so that was really the roadmap focus for a while and had been for the prior year as well I'm told. The good news is we are going live this Tuesday on that which gives us opportunity to focus back on long standing requests! And, in the last several months while finishing the CBE work and preparing for go live we've also met community demand (well over 1000 votes across ideas) for better support of online learning in response to pressures brought on by COVID. Doing my best to cull the old asks and get them on radar as we can, bear with me. Missing and graded assignment notifications will be going out well before summer end - I anticipate mid-July. If there is something else specific that you'd like to bring to my attention please don't hesitate to email me directly too angela.addison@blackbaud.com.
We've been asking for this ever since Blackbaud promised our custom report from EE would be there when we migrated to On
Having a notification that teachers can send out for all missing assignments is essential, especially during our new world of virtual learning. It would be even better if parents could opt in to receive an auto notification when an assignment is marked as missing.
When viewing missing grades in the gradebook, teachers need an easy way to alert those students and parents. Currently having to open each missing assignment student in the roster and message them is very tedious.
Having an automatic email alert to parents and students about a missing assignment would be beneficial towards the success of the student. Also, save teachers a lot of time with sending individual emails.
This would be very beneficial and save teachers a lot of time.
parental involvement and notification is very important. One less thing we teachers would have to do if an automatic notification went out!
This would save sooo much time. This would also involve the parents so much more.
We would also like it to be an option for the notification to go to the student.
As a parent at the school, and an platform manager that is in the On products everyday, even I don't remember to look for my kid's missing assignments. And it's not like I'm not in there. But life is so crazy and it would be helpful to be prompted. This has a lot of votes, and has been here for a long time, please consider a subscription just like news, announcements, game reminders, etc.
Greetings,
Just had our middle school back to school night last night, where a parent asked if it was possible to receive alerts on his phone about missing assignments. Just wanted to weigh in to say that this topic is still a desired one.
Thanks,

Like Bridgitte said, we would like to have notifications for threshold grades on assignments!
I just had this come up today with a teacher who wanted to have this for parents, as he's had several parents email him asking him to send them an email whenever their child is missing an assignment. You can lead a horse to water, and give them all the access in the world, and they still want to be spoon fed.
It would also be a nice feature for advisors, since they have a lot of kids to keep track of, and knowing if one was falling behind would be helpful.
Please add this. Our old system did this and every public school system that I know of has this option. Also please consider notifications for failing assignments and falling grade average (A->B, B->C, etc.). I'd also like to see a notification for tardies and absences since parents expect to get these types of notifications.
