onMessage-like design/styling options for Resource Boards, Bulletin Boards, Topic pages, etc.

We would like an option to create password protected pages that are fully customizable, like onMessage webpages, that only students, faculty, etc... can access.

Currently it seems the only options are Resource Board detail pages or Bulletin Board pages for community / activity groups, but these aren't as customizable as onMessage web pages.

Here are some potential ideas of how these customized, behind the password, pages could be used:

  • PTA - community group content types - missing content types
    site with subpages -

  • library - college counseling - online databases, access with passwords, proprietary docs

  • Resource Board: not very browsable. Library doesn't like resource board layout

  • Securable parts of a page to roles

  • Class Trips - targeted audience - or a page for each trip

  • Secondary school counseling - ability for others than Platform Manager

  • Faculty can't see the resource board that the parents or students see (beyond publishing to both resource boards)

  • Photos, media
  • collection of download and link categories. It would be nice to style the bold blue links in the same size font as the headers, as well as a more current style for the grey boxes surrounding the content channel. Perhaps the opportunity to use school colors.

This is absurd. SEVEN YEARS THIS POST HAS BEEN HERE. I was just given this link to vote "yes" to this feature. Why does support get put in this position of telling us that there's a place for giving input when it's clearly not being addressed? Aaaaaaargggggghhhhhh

haha - under consideration for 5 years... I can't wait!!!

Under consideration after all this time? We really need more formatting capabilities. Our resources aren't very useful if they're hard to read.

Here, here! We use Resource Boards extensively; I would like to be able to enable faculty to view parent/student resources rather than clutter the faculty board by cross-posting.

Would also advocate for sharing media - photos, videos - on the boards.

This has been a 'popular' idea for over three years now.  Is there a timeline for this enhancement yet?

Adding my voice to the group on this topic. The styling is super-limited. We feel our logged-in constituents deserve a better experience than what the Resource Boards currently offer, style-wise.

Hello Jackie, Do we have any update on this 3-year old idea ?

I would also like to check on the status of this idea. At the very least, I would like to be able to modify some of the Style settings on Resource Boards. Can we at least have a container option to center align photos?

Please, please give more styling options and control to the Resource Board detail pages. The current settings are some of the worst UX I have encountered, and make giving those pages any life impossible. At a minimum, allow administrators to determine typography sizes and colors beyond the basic set that you offer. We use a google font on the site and want to use the same typography on our RB pages so that the users has a seam less experience.

Any update on this? We are finding the lack of styling ability for the resource board now to be a real hindrance to our use of the system.

Hi Jackie, I wanted to check and see where this idea from 2015 stands. Is it still under consideration? Perhaps a middle ground is possible where teachers choose what they feel is best for their students (and their own skillset) by choosing either an OnMessage type board or the current bulletin board?

I've been asking for password protected pages, as well. This would be incredibly useful for internal content, like Annual Reports of Giving that include gift levels - information that many users don't want public.

We'd like to be able to display the Publish Date for issues with the PushPage Archive widget, which doesn't have any style options currently.  We'd also like to restrict display of this element/widget to a role, as we can with other elements on the boards.

This idea is now 2 years old.  I hope some progress is being made towards implementing it.

This would be a huge help for our school. We have the need for password-protected pages.

It's been two years since this topic was started, any movement other than having it "under consideration"?

I know that our Lower School teachers especially would like to be able to change font sizes and colors inside the Bulletin Boards and topics.  They want pretty!  And while it can technically be done with html, not all of them have the tech savvy to figure that out.

I would also like to be able to have sub-pages. For example, I find I can have too many tiles. Each tile can lead to a detail page, but if I could group pages together, where I have a tile for Lower School information, and within that page, have subpages to Lower School Library, Lower School Service Learning. There are some areas where having an activity group doesn't work, and having a tile per area is too much.

I would like to add the ability to create additional resource boards. We would like to have a board for "Grade Viewers"

This would allow netclassroom SSO Post(link(for authorized users to view grades that are not parents. Such as grandparents, consultants etc... A role copy of friends to "Grade viewers" allows a member role import for those useres who have been assigned permissions in Education Edge to view grades and worked using netcommunity/netclassroom.

The ability to create custom boards allows the content to be targeted to other roles.

A banner image across the top of a community page would be nice or at least the ability to add without having to add an album.

We need more layout options at least.
