We have 2 comment fields in our report cards - one is a description (the same for every student in the class) of class activity since the previous reporting period.  The other is a comment unique to the particular student's performance.  When reviewers find a mistake in the first, common comment, they would like to be able to bulk edit it - not have to edit every student's entry.
