Right now, the only options for attendance types are Absent and Tardy. We have some attendance reasons that we'd like to add that don't fall under either of those categories, so we'd like to be able to add custom attendance types that fit the reasons better.
Yes please. I would like to keep early dismissal separate from late or absent. Sometimes they only leave 10 mins early so it is not the same thing. When I use virtual for it, I can not track it. So having it populate on a report is significant as well.
We are especially interested in this for early dismissal purposes. Our front office uses the attendance features to communicate to teachers what time a student needs to be released for appointments and the students are often present for the majority of a class. Would love to also capture that students are note completely "absent" when participating in school sponsored events during the day.
We need a way to record an Early Dismissal
At this time we appreciate being able to use the type Virtual in the Absent Excused Category.
Ideally, we would like to be able to add the Type Virtual to the Attended Class Category.
Having the ability to add additional Types, such as for Early Dismissal, would be very helpful so students aren't charged for a full-day absence.
Would like to see this implemented as we have many times when a student is not physically in class (we need to know that), but they are on campus for another reason. Examples are Grandparents Day, testing days, field trips, or any school-sanctioned event that keeps a student out of class but on campus or on with a class off campus. Also, the week that some of our students spend abroad studying at a sister school racks up the absence totals tremendously. The students are studying, just not on OUR campus. There has to be a better way to record those times.
Another example would be a field trip. So the student is marked absent from his regular classes, but is in attendance for the purposes of his scheduled class trip. He will be marked as absent and it will show up on his report card as an absence.
A great example would be early dismissal, lets say 15 or 20 minutes before school ends for the day. So the student is actually in school for virtually the entire day and in the current system is marked as absent. This is despite the fact that he has met the schools criteria for attendance and it will now show up on his report card as an absence.
