Force formatting for fonts in report card comments

It would hugely beneficial to either:

  • force all teachers' comments to use a particular font, size, etc or...
  • force report card to builder to standardized font formatting at generation

Either would resolve the issue of multiple fonts, sizes, etc from our teachers. It was recommended our teachers use notepad to make their comments, but it's difficult to pry Word from their hands. We've also shown them the "paste as plain text" but they typically forget between semesters/trimesters.

We are having this same issue for academic transcripts. An official note configured as a 'Transcript Note' shows on the transcript, but there is no ability on the transcript template to control the font or size like you can with all the other transcript parts. Instead, the transcript note inherits its font/size from the official note itself. In creating the official note type, there is no way to configure a default font/size that matches our transcript style, so our transcripts get notes added that are all in different formats and styles depending on the whims of the person who added the official note to the student's record. We would really like to get better control of this either with a way for the transcript or report card templates to override the font/size options coming from the official notes or an ability for administrators to setup locked font/size options for each note type or at the very least enforce a default font/size that we could match to our transcripts and report cards.

We would also like to be able to set a character limit on the comment field. When we say "one paragraph" as a guideline that can be interpreted in very different ways. Setting a character limit would help make the report cards more standardized in appearance.
