Gradebook Notification Symbol for Assignments with File Submissions

When a student has uploaded a file submission to an assignment it would be useful for a gradebook notification symbol to appear to let the teacher know the assignment is ready to be graded.

I would suggest that the symbol only appear until the assignment has been graded. Once graded, the symbol is no longer needed to notify the teacher of the submission. Maybe the option for the symbol to be hidden after grading could be added as a toggle on/off option in the gradebook display options?

This symbol could be similar to the recent "S" symbol added for assessments that are completed and ready to be graded.

This is not a help. Please let it be optional, or remove it. Thank you!

Ok so this S symbol is great for a file submission but it is now showing up for all assignment that are completed. Very confusing to teachers.

Please turn this off immediately, it is NOT working as the idea intended, but rather showing us a mark when a student marks her assignment completed. For some it's because it was not required of her. For example only the seniors in my class have an exit interview, but juniors are marking it completed in their student assignment center becuase they don't have to do it.

There needs to be an option to turn this new feature off. Our school does not allow students to submit assignments through Blackbaud, but our teacher's gradebooks are now flooded with random "S" symbols based on whether a student marked an assignment as "complete" on their end, which is meaningless to us. I am getting a lot of negative feedback from staff about the gradebook now that it is filled with random "S" symbols. Please give us a way to turn this off as soon as possible!

Angela, thanks for responding. it's totally possible that the added "S"
fills the same space that was always there, so maybe it's just a mental
trick: my mind is making the space greater because of the sudden appearance
of this foreign object. However, no way! That space to the right of the
grade cell simply has to be larger!

Not being able to disable this feature is by FAR the more onerous issue.

    Thanks,

Hi @Timothy Dougherty thanks for your feedback! We are in discussion about how best to implement some logic for removing the icon when the grade is committed - whether that's a manual thing or if we can automate to further the enhancement. As far as your gradebook being twice the size though, I'm concerned something else is going on as we didn't change the real estate i.e. the size of the cells or gradebook at all. If you want to direct message me with screenshots of what you're seeing or get on a webex I'm happy to take a look.

Decent idea to create it, indecent idea not to allow me the option to disable it. I don't need to know that six weeks ago everyone finished an online assessment. My gradebook page is twice its size. Thank you?

Would really love to be able to also access submissions through the Gradebook. Cumbersome to have to go back and forth between Assignments and Gradebook - would prefer to be able to work solely through Gradebook (dislike Assignments). Would also like to set default view options for Assignments (ie. current month, previous 30 days, previous week, assignments not yet graded....)

@Angela Addison that's fantastic news, I look forward to trying it with the assignment I gave my students for tomorrow.

We added for online submissions and will also be adding in our upcoming sprint for assignments that aren't online submission but students switch the status to completed. We are considering the second part here about when to show/hide the 's' and need to do a little more discovery on that.
