If a student is tardy to class and receives a demerit or infraction, it would be useful to be able to recognize work back to the community (serving lunch...) with a merit mark. In our current system, demerits are recorded and merits are also by giving a negative number (-1). If a student is tardy to class and earns a demerit (1), they can work lunch duty and earn 1 merit (-1). A record of all is maintained. Students who miss too many things and cross a threshold, they get an extra meeting with the dean.
