We allow teachers to set alternative infractions to tardies and absences in the attendance drop down box such as "dress code violation" during attendance taking. This cuts time for teachers significantly, and helps to ensure that violations are recorded in the brief time they have for recording them. However, the email that is sent includes this line, "[Student] has reached the criteria for the attendance rule: 1 Tardy Excused, Dress Code Violation." This adds confusion, because the infraction had nothing to do with a tardy, nor was anything excused. The system allows for the handy connection between conduct infractions and the attendance taking process, but all infractions generated via the attendance process are tied to those pre-set types that don't fit for something like dress code.
