Holds on student account

If students are behind in paying tuition, we want to be able to put more holds on their account. Currently, we have the ability to block from report cards but with Education Edge we could block grades, etc.

This functionality is available in the new Holds feature which replaced the previous exclusions in July 2021.

If a past student or alum is put on credit hold their parents need to go on hold, too, just like a current student. Otherwise, although the students can't print a transcript or report card, the parents can and that takes away any leverage our Business Office has to collect money owed.

We need to be able to block families from seeing grade detail under progress, so if they are behind in tuition they do not have ANY access to ANY grades.

I agree there needs to be a way for the Hold List to block access to previous marking period grade book grades that show on the progress tab. In the Hold List (Academics>Grades>Grades Management> Manage Holds tab) currently the only restrictions we can put on students & parents is to stop them from being able to see report cards and transcripts. Please add in the ability to restrict students & parents from being able to see certain marking period grade book grades on the progress page of the student. For example before marking period 4 report cards go out, we would want to stop those students who are on the hold list from seeing report cards, transcripts, marking period 1 grade book grades on the progress tab, marking period 2 grade book grades on the progress tab, marking period 3 grade book grades on the progress tab, and marking period 4 grade book grades on the progress tab. This would allow the student & parents to still see the marking period 5 grade book grades on their progress tab since that is the marking period that just started, the student & parents just would not be able to see MP1, MP2, MP3, or MP4 grade book grades on the progress tab. The student would still be able to see their class pages and be able to turn in assignments for the current marking period 5. Thank you!

Agree with Shae about the need to prevent students from submitting course requests if they are on hold or have not submitted their contracts for the next year. It would provide additional motivation for parents to make certain their accounts are in order and all paperwork submitted.

Agreed!  I also would like to be able to prevent students from submitting course requests, if they are on hold for other reasons.

I concur, and add that the HOLD does not apply when the Registrar or Guidance department run bulk ReportCard/Transcripts.  Our Guidance team run bulk transcripts and then upload them to Naviance with no idea that there may be a HOLD on student record.

I don't understand why OnRecord would give us the ability to put a hold on report cards but leave open the grades, completely defeats the purpose of the hold.

Education Edge also allowed us to block schedules which was great for summer holds.
