Our scheduling process has a much better chance of success when the scheduler determines the terms in which single term elective requests will be satisfied. For example, sections of a single term art can be scheduled in different blocks each term to reduce the chances of conflicts. Also, based on numbers, not all courses will meet in every term, but we do not necessarily know that in advance. It would be simpler and better for our students and for our scheduler if the only option were "Any term."
