Our students generally have one unstructured period during the day. Although the student is not in a class, the student is none the less on campus. In the case of an accountability event (fire, bomb scare, gas leak or just a drill) the school needs to be able to account for this student. Currently, the student can not be marked as dismissed during an unstructured period (it will not save the dismissal), so in the case of an event the attendance reports will be inaccurate if the student has indeed been dismissed.
Contacting support on this topic I was told to create classes/activities named "unstructured" and schedule students in these for their unstructured periods. Which will make them available for attendance changes such as being dismissed or being tardy. However this breaks the Free period reports. So we are stuck with fixing one thing, but breaking another.
